Companion Animal Diagnostics

Accurate diagnosis is the first step to effective treatment. At Gorteen Acre Vets we offer a full range of in house and diagnostic services to identify health issues early, guide treatment and monitor recovery.

Carrying out further diagnostics allows our team to accurately diagnose your pet, and determine the treatment options available to you.

In house Radiographs

We provide detailed images of bones, lungs, heart and other structures in our X-ray room.

In house Ultrasound

We often use ultrasound along with X-rays for a complete picture. An ultrasound scan is ideal for assessing the liver, kidneys, spleen, and bladder.

In house Haematology and Biochemistry analysis

Here in our clinic we provide in house blood analysis with our haematology and biochemistry machines. This gives us a fast view of your pets overall health. We can have your pets results within 25 minutes.

In house Urinalysis

We provide in house urinalysis which helps us assess your pets kidney and urinary tract health.

In house Cytology

Our in house cytology service examines cells from lumps, wounds, skin, and body fluids which helps us identify parasites, infections, inflammation or cancerous changes.

While many tests can be performed in house, some  complex or specialised diagnostics require advanced testing at external laboratories. This includes specialised blood testing, advanced testing of tissue samples and toxicology or rare disease panels.

We can collect the required blood or tissue sample in our clinic and send that sample to the refferal laboratory.
